Now, as part of the IKEA Artist in Residence project: Annie Leibovitz, a new, exciting global mentoring program has been announced. Five young, aspiring photographers will have the unique opportunity to learn from Leibovitz, undertaking the same project as she: interpreting insights from the annual report "IKEA. Life at Home" through the lens of their cameras. The global mentoring program is open to young photographers aged 18 to 25, with a good command of English, who can apply by submitting their applications between June 1 and June 30. The program will run from July to November 2023. Five participants will receive guidance and mentoring support from Annie Leibovitz and IKEA experts, including Group Ingka Creative Director Marcus Engman, as well as compensation for their work. More information on how IKEA will share the final portraits created during the collaboration with Annie Leibovitz will be revealed, but the works of program participants will be part of the conclusion of the Artist in Residence collaboration with IKEA.
“At IKEA, we have always understood that better everyday life starts at home. We know that homes are so much more than four walls and a roof. Homes are created by the people who live in them, tailored to their favorite activities and individual needs. With this extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with Annie Leibovitz, we want to support the development of young photographers. We hope they will see the magic that can be created when viewing the home as a source of inspiration.” – Belén Frau Global Communications Manager at Group Ingka (IKEA Retail)
